Gweneal walked into the ball, gracefull as ever, despite the low heals that she was wearing. They were highly uncomfortable. She did not understand why humans were so instant on wearing such uncomfortable clothes, to well... everywhere.

Their most comfortable clothes, she had found people to claim to be inappropriate to wear in front of other people... "slouch" clothes and other things. She did not understand.

Still, although not nearly as comfortable as her angel attire, she had to admit, this dress, white and flowing it made her feel the closest.... well the closest to what she use to be.

Of course, the scars on her back - hidden by a jacket, she was never going to let someone see her shame - seemed to heighten and burn, reminding her that she could never be what she once was.

She was a Fallen.

Not an angel.

A shell of what she use to be, and she'd have to deal with that.

Her gaze lingered over the mass of people, the decorations, wonder written on her face despite herself. Heaven had never.... they had never done things like this back home, and last time she had been on earth....

A party was much more reserved... and corests were still in fashion (if one wished to speak about uncomfortable).

Biting her lip, she reached up to fiddle with the simple cross that she always wore on a chain. Although religion was neither here nor there to her, it was one of the closest things on earth she could find to represent home.... and carry around with her.

She took a deep breath, and avoided the crowd, by migrating to edge of the room. Gwen would content herself with just watching. If she stayed watching then she wouldn't get in trouble.

That was what she should have done last time...

Watched.

Not-not...

Ignacia walked into the ball holding her head high. She did not wish to be here. She thought this was a waste of time that could be spent more productively, but it was her duty to make sure her family was represented at such a gathering.

Ignacia strolled through the crowds feeling the eyes on her, purposefully ignoring them. She made her way towards a wall where she could find peace away from the numerous people. She happened to see a tall, slender blonde in the corner. The girl seemed to be defeated; as if she were ashamed of something.

In a rare act of being social, Ignacia made her way directly toward the blonde. She stopped directly in front of her and did not bother with pleasantries of any sort, instead, she said strongly, "Whatever it is that you are ashamed of, or fearful of, forget it and stand proud."

The angel let her gaze drift from the scene around her, to the girl besides her. Eyes wide she opened her mouth to speak and then shut it again.

The words were... not odd, only...

Untrue.

Or more like...

"That is very kind of you to say, but I can assure you - I am standing as tall as I have every right to be. Pride in oneself... comes from pride in ones actions, and my actions..." she frowned for a moment and watched the crowd of dresses and suits, faces, boys and girls, but seeing one different than this. Similar, but she was lost in her minds eyes, in the past. All the people she had seen then were long dead, "Have left some things to be desired in the past. I can only hope to make up for them in the future."

Ignacia observed the girl as her eyes glazed over as if she was seeing something that wasn't there. Ignacia turned to look at the crowd herself. She watched as many moved to the music, drank the punch, and ate the food. She wistfully wished she could be as carefree as them, but for the sake of her family and her race she was not allowed to. Besides, who wants the extra burden of someone else's feelings on their shoulders? Ignacia sure didn't and, yet, she felt she had to help this girl.

"You keep speaking of the past. What about now? Are you proud of who you've become? Not of how you got here, but who you are?" Ignacia paused to let that sink in. "Yes the past shapes us to be who we are, but it has no hold over who we will be. Scars remind us of where we've been, they don't have to dictate where we go."
