| I have just read " Thirteen Reasons Why" by Jay Asher. It's a great book, and even though it basically talks about some girl's suicide, it kind of ends optimistically. The spoiler that I wrote isn't really a spoiler, cause it doesn't ruin the book for you, or gives you too much of the plot, but I'm not sure if all people want to know what the book they're starting to read is about, so I hid it like this. - Spoiler:
Hannah Baker is a real sweetheart, who got a bad rep because people were bored with their lives so they needed to invent stuff to make everything seem more interesting. At the start of the book, we learn that Hannah had committed suicide a couple of weeks ago, and before she did it, she made 7 tapes about 13 reasons why she did what she did (in her case, 13 people who drove her to it). Clay Jensen is probably the nicest guy that she ever met. He had a crush on her for years, and it was mutual, even though he didn't know that, or did anything about it, since he was ready to believe in all the rumors he have heard about her. The plot starts with him getting the tapes, because he is on her list.
I strongly recommend this book to everyone, even though it sounds like something that would be hard to read, it isn't, it talks about lies and the consequences of rumors. Two years ago, the movie about the book was in the talks, and it was reported that Selena Gomez would play the titular character. I don't think that is going to happen, since she doesn't fit Hannah's description at all, and her acting skills are too flat for a role that complex. Kudos to Jay Asher for describing inner thoughts of a teenage girl so well. He really outdone himself in this book, his style of writing is, to me, impeccable, he managed to make some characters seem so realistic and repulsive, and I felt sorry for some others, because he was that good at making them sound like those kids in high school that everyone hated, but they were your whole world at the same time. If you don't know where to find the book, message yours truly, I could probably help. ----------------------------------------- What I want to read next:
~"Before I Die" by Jenny Downham - I read this one already, it is great, but I lost the pdf, so I can't find it anywhere right now. There is a movie based on this book called "Now Is Good", starring Dakota Fanning as the main character, a girl who is suffering from terminal leukemia, Jeremy Irvine as her love interest, and Kaya Scodelario as her best friend.
~"How I Live Now" by Meg Rosoff - when I find this book somewhere, I'm gonna be the happiest person ever, until then I have to settle with the movie based on it, that is coming in theaters near you this year (), starring Saoirse Ronan, who I love to pieces, and she turns everything into gold, so I'm hoping it will be a hit movie. It probably will be, so the book will go around as well. It's a love story about people that have to move from the city to the country to be safer, cause there is a Third World War happening around them, and somehow, two of them manage to find love in those hard times, even though life separates them soon after.
