Funny Feeling

Food had always been an odd concept for Gweneal. When she had first come to earth, as an Angel on a mission, not in her current state, she had not felt the need for food. The burning hunger that most humans felt had never bothered her, for she wasn't truely like them.

As a fallen though, her wings removed from her, the pain and trivalness of human life bothered her as much as the next.

So it was with curiousity, and slight annoyance, that she quietly entered this place of feeding, and looked at the food around her. She slowly folded herself into an empty table, and looked at the plates before her.

It was all rather overwhelming.

Airiana flowed into the dining hall gracefully, her plump red lips were quirked and her bright blue eyes smiled genuinely at everyone that passed her. Instead of getting her usual tray lunch, she had a bagged lunch. Today, the food was not what she wanted.

She fidgeted as she looked around, spotting a new looking student. She bounced over to her and smiled brightly, "Hello!"

Gweneal looked up with a start at the cheerful voice. She blinked slowly at the girl, taking in each and every one of her features. She seemed.... energetic to say the least.

Or at the very least, social.

"Hello," she said softly, nodding her head slightly. "I am Gweneal Celestynka."

When in doubt she had found that introducing herself worked best.

Airiana chuckled, holding out her hand in case the girl wanted to shake hands, "I'm Airiana Wolfgang. I take it that you're new?" Her eyes sparkled, friendly yet mischievous all at once. She was, of course, a fairie. And, well, fairies were very, very mischievous.

She waved at something in front of her face, a fuzz ball that she assumed was dust. That clearly didn't make sense as there wasn't a lick of dust anywhere in the bloody place. She shook her head a moment and smiled again.

Gweneal took the hand and gave it a delicate shake, "Yes... new." She frowned slightly at that word. New, old, young... she was... everything some how, and all of them seemed to apply to her.

And none of them... at the same time.

She frowned slightly as the girl waved her hand, "Are you quite alright?"

Airiana was genuinely curious at the new girls pause. She let her hand slip from the other girls and frowned a little, "You don't sound too sure on that."

Her smile went from random to slightly innocent, embarrassed maybe, as she nodded. She laughed shortly, "I'm fine. There was something in front of me and it was bothering me. I don't know quite what it was but, oh well."

"New is such an... odd word," she said slightly, looking at her compainion, "Everyone has such different opinions on what.... on what counts of new. Some people make "New" last so much longer than others. It seems silly, to have things that mean.... well, not enough."

She frowned, not entirely sure if she was even making sense.

"Oh," she breathed, she had not seen anything, "Well, I certainly hope it is gone then. "

"Oh I see." Airiana nodded, a little skeptical as she continued, "So you're new to the school but not really new at all. You look physically new but you're mentally old." Her blue eyes wavered as her nose twitched like a rabbit's, a cue that she was thinking. She nodded, "Sooooo, you're definitely not full human!"

She'd felt as if Gweneal was making sense, but she was so odd herself that anything would. Air was practically mad, though she was very sane. Which was a large contradiction.

"Oh, so do I." She giggled, "Goodness knows I would hate to fight it again."

Gweneal's face went slack for just a moment, she looked over one shoulder and then the other before looking back at the other girl.

"On the contrary," she said simply, once she had finally got her composure, "I am as human as anybody, now. I live, I breath, I walk, talk eat.... I can die, just as soon as you can. Does that not make me human?"

That was the question wasn't it? Gweneal had been struggling her whole life, not just this new one, but the one before her fall.

What did in fact make anyone... human.

Airiana raised her eyebrow high and smiled, "Uhm, that's not exactly what I meant. We have creatures... and then we have humans. Even though a lot of the creatures here can be called human, many of us cannot. For instance, those of us of the fae are not human at all."

Air allowed her glamour to flicker away to show off her blue-ish skin and large dragon fly like wings before everything disappeared again. She motioned to a shaggy looking boy with scars along his face, "He is a werewolf, and he can be called human as he has natural human features and other such things."

"So what are you? Are you a, er, normal human," She said carefully and then motioned to herself and the boy again, "Or are you different like us?"

Gwen tilted her head as she looked at the girl. She had of course understood what she had meant - for the most part anyways. However, she had merely been avoiding the question. Saying yes to this, would lead to other questions her pride did not wish her to say aloud.

"I am... different," she said softly, looking down at her plate, "Very much so. Though, as I said before... I'd be classified as mostly human, now."

"So you were one of the sky?" Airiana asked intuitively. If she had not been considered human before, then there was only one way she could be now. Or at least, she assumed there was only one way.

She waited for an answer quietly as she tried to focus her attention on the girl. Her span of attention was getting ready to flit away and that would not be good if she were trying to learn something.
