Tied together with a smile, but she's coming undone.

Evangeline walked into the room that she found in the first year she had arrived. She smiled, remembering that first year, not wearing any makeup, and having her hair in stupid styles, just so that she could get away with being a Freshman. Several people had picked up on the fact that she didn't seem to age or grow, but she usually just ignored them.

Now everything had changed. She had never had a particularly simple life, due to the fact she had torn her family apart, but never had she had to lie her sister, in any of the centuries she had been on this earth. She burst into tears with the knowledge that her life was such a train wreck

Claude was happily wandering around, not causing any trouble what so ever, looking for something to entertain himself with. His friends were goodness knows where, and he was getting more and more bored by his own company. Which probably wasn't a very good thing, but it wasn't like he had to say it outloud.

He caught the sight of familiar blonde hair and thought he'd found someone however, quickly following the girl into a room he wasn't sure he'd ever been in before, trying to remind himself of the girl's name. He was a little too drunk at the time to really remember it.

When he got into the room though he could feel the mood change, right before the girl burst into tears. Claude swallowed a lump in his throat, feeling kind of bad for following her, seeing as he figured she probably wanted time to herself, but figured it was also a little too later now.

"Hey, are you okay?" he asked as quietly as he could, not wanting to startle her too much.

Evangeline still jumped when she heard the voice come from behind her, even though it was soft and calming. She was surprised she hadn't heard him before, even if he was tiptoeing her acute senses would have picked it up. She knew that she wasn't herself though, due to all the shit that had gone on.

She turned around slowly, to see a familiar face, but not one that she could put a name to. Klaus maybe? Something like that. Well whatever his name was, he was soon about to find out that you did not mess with Evangeline when she was in a bad mood.

"Seriously, what the fuck do you think you are doing?" she snapped, in between her sobs. "Didn't you think that I maybe wanted a bit of space, due to the fact that I am in a room on my own, crying?"

Claude held up his hands in defence as she snapped at him, taking a step back. Upset girls were slightly angry. That was okay. He could totally deal with this. Though he didn't quite know exactly what he was supposed to do. So long as no harm calm to either of them everyone could walk away happy.

"I didn't realise you were here," he said, still with a quiet and hopefully calm voice, not wanting to upset her further. "I came in, saw you, and just wanted to make sure you were okay, or if you needed anything?" he gestured towards the door behind him. "If you want to be alone, I can leave. But I can stay if you want."

He wasn't happy with the idea of leaving her crying in a room on her own, but girls could be awkward like that he guessed.

"Yes, I am obviously okay." she growled. "I am a fucking ray of sunshine," she hissed with a fake smile forced upon her face. She knew that this guy was only trying to help, but she hated it when people thought that she needed support. It just reminded her of being human, and the youngest and most useless of all her siblings.

She looked up at him, her look of annoyance not faltering for a second. "Are you still here?" she asked, raising her eyebrows, still wiping her eyes. He may have been an acceptable drinking buddy, but there was nothing more to it.

"You can go." she said blankly, looking down at the floor, feeling a lump rise in her throat.

Claude frowned slightly as she answered, entirely unsure what to make of this. People and feelings and shit were so confusing and so much effort. As much as he felt bad for offering to leave instead of helping her, he wasn't sure he could bring himself to completely want to deal with someone who was just going to be rude.

He bit back a remark as she asked if he was still here, figuring saying nothing would probably be better than something. She didn't seem to react very well to most of what he'd said so far. But then she looked down and he swore he heard something in her voice as she told him he could go.

"What if I decide I don't want to go?" he asked, mentally kicking himself for not taking the chance. "What if I decide I don't want to leave a fellow student crying on their own in a room? I could park myself down in this spot and..." and what, just listen to her cry? "Be a shoulder to cry on or some shit like that. I know I hate being on my own when I'm upset."

Evangeline looked at the guy fed up. She did want someone to talk to, but could she really trust this guy. She went through what happened in her head, bringing herself to tears again. "I didn't mean to do it..." she said putting her head in her hands. It was true, she never meant for that stupid argument.

"She just- I didn't realise-" she stumbled over her words, having no idea how to come out with it. Evie wondered whether she should just throw a few expletives at the guy and walk off, but she wasn't in her right mind. She just needed someone to talk to.

Claude was holding his breath as he waited for a reply. Really, he was so unsure of what she was going to do. Hopefully not cause him bodily harm. That wouldn't be good at all. Though if she did he hoped she at least felt better for doing it. Still. Avoid please.

But then she had her head in her hands, and she was saying nonsense, but it was enough for Claude to figure out she was feeling guilty about something. Stepping forward, he put a hand on her shoulder, swallowing a lump in his throat. "It's okay, come on, let's sit down, yeah?"

Was that enough to say? He didn't want to presure her to tell him anything. People were so difficult to handle sometimes, even though he loved them.

She looked up at the guy, feeling self conscious, as her eyes were red, and streaming with tears. Then she did it. She blurted out to a near enough stranger what she hadn't even told her sister. "I killed her." she sobbed looking back to the ground, ashamed with herself.

"Mariella hasn't been kidnapped, or whatever shit they are saying," she told him, between hiccups. "I KILLED HER!" she shouted, not caring who heard. She broke down, shaking and losing the ability to even breathe through all the tears.

I killed her. For a moment, Claude wondered if he was supposed to laugh, and it was some kind of joke. But these were a lot of tears for someone who was joking. Then he figured she was probably talking about someone's pet, people could get very attached to pets after all.

But then she said the name, Mariella. He knew it. There were certain rumours and news in a school that were hard to ignore. The girl that had gone missing. She said it again, much louder this time, and Claude grimaced slightly at the pain it caused his ears and brain. Because if he was unsure of what he was supposed to do with a crying girl when he first saw her, he really had not the slightest idea now.

He guided the blonde to sitting down on the floor, scared she was going to crumble into a ball, wrapping his arm round her shoulders to keep her close. What the hell was he doing? He was fairly certain he should be running right about now. But he wasn't sure he believed her. "How-I mean-!" was it rude to ask this? "Do you want to tell me how it happened?"
